2023 Ambassador Scheme
The ambassador scheme involves ex-service users who are able to support current service users of the Sheffield treatment system. They also encourage people who have not entered treatment or have had negative past experiences with treatment services to use the excellent services on offer.
One of the inherent problems with drug and alcohol treatment services is that once people have successfully passed through and got their lives back on track they do not return to their old associates. This means that for people trapped in the addiction cycle most of the people they will meet who have received treatment will have relapsed, and the real success stories do not get heard of amongst current drug and alcohol dependent people.
To qualify to become an Ambassador you must have completed treatment with one of Sheffield’s commissioned providers and be free from both illicit substance and alcohol problems at the time of applying. You will also need the support of your drugs or alcohol worker when applying for the scheme.
